Getting Started

Leading your school board or district to environmental excellence!

Getting involved with the EcoSchools program at the school board/district level is a fantastic way to create system-wide change and demonstrate commitment to a sustainable future for students, educators, and community members on a regional scale.

The EcoSchools program aligns with school board and district strategic environmental objectives. While schools can certify regardless of whether their board or district has member status, the outcomes are greatest when boards and districts work together with their schools and take a collective impact approach to environmental learning and climate action.

Becoming a Board or District Member

Through membership, boards and districts have the opportunity to act as leaders for their schools by promoting the EcoSchools framework to strengthen environmental learning and action, contribute to sustainability efforts across the country, and employ certification standards modelled after the international Eco-Schools programme and connected to the UN SDGs.

Benefits of membership include:

Data and Tracking

Administrator access to the EcoSchools Certification Application (ECA) to track collective impact.

Support

Year-round support and a year-end report outlining achievements, metrics, and next steps.

Tools and Resources

Exclusive content including resources, workshops, and networking opportunities through the NEW EcoSchools Board Program.
